Family and friends we have gathered together today, to celebrate the life of James Trawick. But to those of us who knew Him best he was just Mr. Bud.
Mr. Bud went home to be with the Lord Wednesday night, April 17th at his home. Bud was born on April 3rd, 1927, and just recently celebrated his 92nd Birthday. What an amazing life, there aren’t many who get to enjoy a life that long anymore.
Mr. Bud was tough, in more ways than one. He served his country as a veteran of WW2. This was something he rarely mentioned to me, and I am sure he had his reasons. But as a pastor I am forever grateful for men and women like Bud who put their lives on the line to enable us to worship the Lord in peace.
He served His church:
One thing was certain I spoke with him on many occasions, Mr. Bud knew the Lord Jesus Christ. Which is why today though our hearts ache with the pain of not having him here with us, we know that Bud is in the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ in paradise.
He is standing on that golden shore in the presence of the Lord and with the bride he loved for so many years.
here at UHBC faithfully as a deacon as well as serving on the building and grounds committee.

There are many places within the church that Mr. Bud did not help fix, bathrooms, floors and other projects. But he and Mrs. Marie also helped a young youth pastor do something that had never been done previously at our church.
I currently serve as the pastor at Union Hill, but before God allowed me to be the pastor I served as the youth pastor for two years. We decided we were going to have a teen discipleship weekend. Where different members of the church would open up their homes and the teenagers would spend the night with them Friday and Saturday night, they would receive messages from a guest speaker.
I was nervous because i did not know how this would go, I was knew to the ministry, and I wanted it to go well. I was overjoyed when Mrs. Marie came up to me with Bud and said we wanna be a host home.
You know they had true faith in the Lord because to invite teenage boys to come stay with you that you dont even know is a testimony of faith in and of itself.
They did so joyfully. All of the boys begged me to put them back in the trawicks home next year because Mrs. Marie could throw down in the kitchen, I bet when I went over to check on them she had made 6 cakes and a couple pies.
But the thing that meant the most to me, was that on Sunday morning we had a band that came in to lead us in worship, drums guitars the whole nine yards.
I could tell this would be a little uncomfortable for some in the church, and so I was nervous. We were all wearing our DNOW TSHIRTS and a few people were looking at me like we were nuts wearing tshirts to church on a sunday morning.
But in walks Bud and Marie in their cool DNOW shirts walking in proudly and sitting down for the kids. I’ll never forget that. The DNOW went great and we have had them ever since.
Mr. Bud was a trip He came up to me and asked me to come down for supper one Sunday after church, He came up and in that Bud Trawick voice said Son, you need to come down to the house let’s fix up some rabbits and rice.
I was scared to death because I really thought Bud was making rabbits and rice but I went anyway. Mrs. Marie had a spread and we enojoyed our time together.
Bud was faithful to His church, and I loved him dearly.
He was part of a small group who faithfully attended Wednesday night prayer meeting, he was there every time the doors were open. However in his later years the health of his wife and his own health hindered him from attending the way he wanted to.
But today the hope of the gospel is that Mr. Bud because he believed in Jesus Christ and his death burial and resurrection, is standing in glory totally alive and full of Joy.
Free from the pains of this world, at perfect peace and rest. Wednesday night Marshall and I prayed that the Lord would be merciful and allow Bud to peacefully enter into glory, and not have to suffer.
Within 15 minutes of he and I saying amen Bud was in the presence of God Himself.
Psalm 16:11 NKJV
You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
We don’t need to grieve for Mr. Bud because Bud is receiving the greatest care He could ever receive from the Lord Himself.
Bud served his country, bud served his church but most of all, Bud served his family. Bud was a hard working man, making sure that his boys had everything they needed.
HE would often tell me pray for this son of mine for this reason or that, he would mirror the requests of his wife. There is one thing for certain Bud loved his family. while he may not have said it, he thought of you boys often.
I know He loved his grandchildren, we spoke often about them as well. Bud Trawick had a deep love for all who were connected to him, and that is a testimony of his heart.
I was honored to know such a servant, and such a good friend.
